Royal South Street Competitions – Ballarat

Come and discover Australia’s rising stars at the 2017 Royal South Street Eisteddfod in Ballarat, Victoria.
The 125th year promises to be special as the competition celebrate 11 years of Chopin and introduces a new section in calisthenics and a completely new discipline called Mi Sound. Expect spirited performances in Instrumental, Vocal, and Calisthenics categories as well.

Timeline Festival – Leigh Creek

October 28th and 29th 2017

The Timeline Festival is an annual re-enactment event that is held at Kryal Castle, near Ballarat in Regional Victoria. The Festival attracts over 350 historical reenactors and merchants covering time periods from Ancient Rome through to World War Two.

The event is run over three days and incorporates a public event, which is held on the Saturday and Sunday, and includes a whole range of re-enactment activities to showcase the skills and crafts of the re-enactment community.


Romancing the Skull – Sat 14 Oct 2017 – Sun 28 Jan 2018

The skull has entranced and fascinated generations of artists. Romancing the skull looks at the depiction of the skull in art and examines why we continue to be so enamoured with this iconic symbol. 
The exhibition explores a range of themes including the skull as a reminder of our mortality, the use of the skull in addressing social and political issues, and the skull and crossbones as a symbol of piracy and rebellion.

Springfest Market Weekend – November 26th

images The Rotary Club of Ballarat is delighted to once again deliver the annual SpringFest Season of Events. This year’s SpringFest Market Sunday is scheduled for the 26th of November.
With live entertainment and 400 stalls popping up around Lake Wendouree for the huge market held in November annually it will be a blast.

2018 Cycling Australia Road National Championships – January 3rd – 7th 2018

The RoadNats feature an invigorating line up of community events, activities and participation opportunities for all cyclists and cycling fans.

This year the Championships will welcome two new categories with Australia’s best U19 and Para-cyclists set to join the U23 and elite in the battle for the coveted green and gold jersey in January.

Victorian Country Track & Field Championships – January 26th – 28th 2018

The 2018 Victorian Country Track & Field Championships make their way to Ballarat over the Australia Day weekend. There are events offered in all age groups from U14 up to 60+ as well as club and individual awards presented across the three-day competition.


Red Hot Summer Tour – January 27th 2018

The Red Hot Summer Tour is back for 2018! This years line up includes Suzi Quatro, The Screaming Jets, Baby Animals, The Angels, Chocolate Starfish, & Moving Pictures.

Ballarat Beer Festival

The Ballarat Beer Festival is an annual event in January. Victoria’s original and favourite craft beer festival is held over the long weekend  Thousands of locals and out-of-towners are expected to descend upon the city to celebrate liquid gold over the January school holidays, at the City Oval, Ballarat.



Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival – February 8th – 11th 2018

After the success of the 2017 festival, Rockabilly will return to Ballarat in February 2018.

White Night Ballarat – 17th March 2018

White Night Ballarat is the city as you know it, but re-imagined and transformed under the ephemeral cloak of night. From dusk ’til dawn local, national and international artists, musicians and performers will weave a spell over the city in a celebration of culture and creativity.
